LOBBYING SUCCESS FOR THE FORMATION OF A SENEDD GROUP DEDICATED TO WELSH WOOL POLICY AND SUPPORT IN THE GOVERNMENT
In November 2022, we held our first event at the Senedd in Cardiff to present our vision and goals to Members and Ministers, including the Llwydd Rt Hon Elin Jones MS.
This was sponsored by Cefin Campbell MS, whom we thank for his ongoing support, in addition to those from all 4 parties across the Welsh Government whom attended to support the WWA.
We unveiled our vision for a circular future facing industry alongside individual projects and a showcase of some products from Welsh Wool Businesses from our open call to represent the diversity of opportunity.
In tandem Jacqui lobbied for the formation of a CPG - Cross Party Group dedicated to the Welsh Wool industry. This was announced at the event and formally created in January 2023. Chaired by Cefin Campbell MS, Our CEO Jacqui Pearce is Secretariat and the group is made up of Members, Ministers and representatives from all 4 parties in the Senedd (Welsh Government) and the group will invite specialist industry input for debate on different topics.

Our CEO Jacqui lobbied for a Cross Party Group dedicated to Welsh Wool within the Welsh Government, bringing wool to heart of politics in Wales. This was sponsored and supported by Members from all 4 parties in the Senedd and it will run from 2023 to 2026. Chaired by Cefin Campbell MS, Jacqui was elected Secretary and will be working alongside Members on a 3 year plan.
We have a full calendar of events for 2023, including the first ever Eisteddfod dedicated to Wool - to be held at the Senedd.

Founded by 2 members of the WWA with a wealth of experience in the housing and construction sectors, they are exploring innovative ways of creating wool based insulation and are specifically working to pay a premium to Welsh Wool Farmers
